Style

Strong keeps the code scannable with up to about a third of it scuffed, dirty or covered, but makes the pattern denser. Standard suits most uses.

Enter a name and your QR code appears here.

Download

PNG suits documents, slides and websites.

Print a sheet

Each label is about 9.3 × 9.0 cm. Print at 100% scale (turn off “fit to page”). To save a PDF instead, choose “Save as PDF” as the printer.

How to make a contact QR code

  1. Fill in a name or company, then whichever details you want to share. Everything else is optional.
  2. Scan the code with your own phone and check the contact it offers to save.
  3. Download it for your business card design, or print a sheet of them.

Keep it small enough to scan

Every detail you add makes the pattern denser, and dense codes need printing larger. On a business card, keep to the essentials, such as your name, one phone number, an email address and your website, and print the code at least 2 cm across. For a badge or sign, bigger is always easier.

Where contact QR codes work well

  • Business cards: people save you in one scan instead of typing from the card.
  • Name badges and lanyards: handy at conferences, trade shows and networking events.
  • Stalls, vans and shop counters: customers keep your number for next time.
  • Email signatures and slides: download a PNG and drop it in.

What’s inside the code

The code holds a standard contact card, known as a vCard, which iPhone and Android contacts apps both understand. It’s written out in full inside the pattern, not stored on a server, so the code never expires and works offline.

Need a different kind of code? The full QR code generator also makes codes for links, text, email and SMS, and the Wi-Fi QR code generator lets guests join your network.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when someone scans it?

Their phone offers to save you as a new contact, with your name, number, email and anything else you filled in. On iPhone the Camera app shows the prompt; on Android it’s the camera or Google Lens.

Does saving the contact need an internet connection?

No. All your details are stored inside the code itself, so it works with no signal. That also means nothing depends on our website, or anyone else’s, staying online.

Can I change my details after printing?

No, because the details are fixed inside the pattern. If they change, make a new code and reprint. If you expect changes often, a QR code linking to a page on your own website may suit you better.

Can I add a photo or logo?

No. A photo is far too much data for a QR code a phone could scan. Your photo and logo can go on the card or badge next to the code.

Is this a “digital business card”?

It does the same job without the subscription. Digital business card services usually put a link to their own website in the code, which can stop working if you stop paying. This code holds your details directly, free, for as long as the card lasts.

Is what I type sent anywhere?

No. The code is drawn in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us or anyone else.
