Orbit Alarm guide

My alarm didn't go off

Work through these in order. Most missed alarms come down to the first three.

1. Check the alarm itself

  • Is it switched on in the ALARMS list?
  • Is the time right, and is RECURRING ALARM set for the days you expected? An alarm without RECURRING rings once and then stays off.
  • If you use 12-hour time, check AM and PM.

2. Let Orbit Alarm ignore battery saving

This is the most common cause. Many phones close apps in the background to save battery, especially Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Huawei, Honor and Oppo.

  1. In Orbit Alarm, open Settings (gear icon) → Manage Permissions.
  2. Find Battery Optimization and tap the button to exclude Orbit Alarm.

Some phones have extra battery settings of their own, beyond Android’s standard one. dontkillmyapp.com has step-by-step instructions for each brand.

3. Check notifications are allowed

The alarm screen is delivered through a notification. If notifications for Orbit Alarm are off, the alarm can’t reliably appear. Check Android Settings → Apps → Orbit Alarm → Notifications.

4. Did you force stop the app?

If you’ve pressed Force stop on Orbit Alarm in Android’s settings, Android cancels all of its alarms until you open the app again. This is how Android works for every app. Opening Orbit Alarm sets them all back up.

Restarting your phone and updating the app are both fine. Orbit Alarm sets your alarms back up automatically afterwards.

5. Check the full-screen permission

On Android 14 and later, open Settings → Manage Permissions → Full-Screen Alarm. Without it, the alarm may only show as a notification rather than filling the screen. Most phones grant this automatically.

6. It went off, but only as a notification

If the sound played but the alarm or task didn’t fill the screen, you were probably using your phone at the time. Android only lets an app come to the front by itself if you’ve allowed Display over other apps. Open Settings → Manage Permissions → Draw Over Other Apps and allow it. A locked phone gets the full screen either way.

7. Do Not Disturb

Android’s Do Not Disturb normally lets alarms through, but some setups block them. If the alarm editor shows “This alarm may stay silent”, tap FIX IN SETTINGS and allow Do Not Disturb Override.

8. Update the app

Make sure you’re on the latest version from Google Play.

Still happening?

Open Settings → About → Submit Feature Request / Bug and tell us:

  • your phone model,
  • the time the alarm was set for,
  • and what happened, if anything.

That’s usually enough to find the cause.
