Orbit Alarm guide

Chained timers

A timer in Orbit Alarm is a sequence of steps that run one after another. Each step can either move on by itself or wait until you scan a barcode.

Setting one up

  1. Go to the TIMERS tab and tap +.
  2. Give it a name, such as “Study session”.
  3. Tap ADD TIMER for each step. Give each a Label (Study, Break) and a DURATION.
  4. For each step, choose what happens WHEN THIS TIMER ENDS:
    • Off: a short chime, and the next step starts on its own.
    • BARCODE: “Require a barcode scan to continue”. Choose a code from your library.
  5. Pick the sound under CHIME WHEN EACH TIMER ENDS.
  6. Tap SAVE TIMER.

What happens when a gated step ends

A TIME’S UP screen appears and the chime keeps going, at full volume, until you tap ACTIVATE SCANNER and scan the code. Then the next step starts. You can also Cancel timer.

Example sequences

Focus blocks. Study 25 minutes → Break 5 minutes, repeated. Gate the end of each break with a code on your desk so a break can’t quietly become an hour.

Workout. Warm-up → Set 1 → Rest → Set 2 → Rest. No gates, so it flows by itself.

Cooking. Separate steps for each stage, gated on a label on the oven so you actually go and check.

Tips

  • Only gate the steps where drifting off is the real risk. Usually that’s the end of a break.
  • Use a different code for each place you need to be, such as the desk or the kitchen.
